Southlake Luxury Master Bathroom Remodel in Progress by Kat Black Interiors
This Southlake master bathroom remodel just completed the design development phase, with the layout established and key material selections in place.
We’re sharing a first look at the direction before it moves into construction.

Reimagining the Master Bathroom Layout of a home built in 1985
This project began with an existing layout that felt segmented and underutilized.
As part of this master bathroom renovation in Southlake, Texas, we reworked the floor plan to create a more open, balanced, and functional space.
Key updates include:
A more expansive, symmetrical master bathroom layout
A central freestanding tub framed by an architectural arch
Improved flow between the bathroom, closets, and adjacent spaces
Good space planning is what makes a bathroom really work, and that’s where we started on this one.

The existing layout felt crowded, disjointed and was definitely not functioning to its full potential.

The proposed layout maximized the space and shows appreciation for previously overlooked architectural features, such as the grand windows.
A Luxury Bathroom Design Defined by Timeless Materials
For this Southlake bathroom remodel, the design direction centers around natural materials and a layered palette.
Selections include:
Marble tile flooring and shower walls for a timeless foundation
A sculptural stone bathtub as the focal point
Warm wood cabinetry paired with polished nickel plumbing fixtures
Custom wall paneling to add subtle architectural structure
Hidden storage in the wall paneling

Rather than relying on trends, this master bathroom design is focused on creating a space that feels intentional, collected, and built to last. Her love of stately European interiors became the foundation for the design, while his mid-century influence added personality, warmth, and unexpected character throughout the space.
Custom Tile Design + Shower Details
Tile is playing a key role in this master bathroom renovation. The selected shower floor tile introduces a subtle nod to midcentury modern design, with geometric patterning and a slight Art Deco influence.
Additional details include:
A decorative border tile framing the bathroom floor
Full-height marble shower walls
Layered tile selections that add depth without overwhelming the space

A Sneak Peek
This master bathroom renovation is about to begin, and the direction is set.
The layout is stronger. The materials are working together. The design is cohesive and intentional.

The existing floor plan left the windows feeling secondary rather than intentional focal points.

The existing windows are staying and now highlighted where previously they were overlooked.

The original closet lacked both function and intentionality, with limited organization and inefficient use of the available footprint.

The redesigned closet was reimagined to feel bright, tailored, and highly functional, with custom storage integrated throughout to maximize every inch of the space.

The original bathroom layout felt narrow and disconnected, with the shower tucked into a tight enclosure that made the space feel smaller than it actually was. The finishes lacked warmth and architectural character, and the overall flow did not reflect the scale or potential of the room.

The shower was completely reimagined to feel more open, architectural, and connected to the overall design of the bathroom. What was once a small enclosed stall became a spacious walk-in shower featuring elevated stone finishes, improved circulation, and a bold patterned floor that adds personality and visual interest to the space.

Tall empty walls and a closed-off layout that made the space feel stark and underutilized. While the ceiling height and natural light had potential, the architectural features were not being fully celebrated

The tub area now centers around a sculptural freestanding stone soaking tub that brings weight, texture, and a sense of permanence to the space.

The original vanity area lacked architectural character and felt visually flat, with standard builder-grade cabinetry and finishes that did not reflect the scale of the space. The layout also missed the opportunity to create stronger focal points and a more elevated feel.

The vanity area was redesigned to bring a rich European feel to the bathroom through warm stained cabinetry, tailored millwork, and layered architectural detailing.
More to come as this luxury bathroom remodel in Southlake moves into construction!
